Applewood Acres is one of Mississauga's older neighbourhoods dating back to the 1950s. Before the 50s, it was a rural area consisting of apple orchards. The neighbourhood was redeveloped in the 1950s with G.S. Shipp & Son Limited’s purchase of 23 acres of land, which defined the beginning of this Mississauga subdivision. Their marketing techniques and promotion of the community resulted in attracting homebuyers to Applewood Acres. The community started with a park, church and shopping mall, but it soon became known for recognizable streetscaping and beautiful renowned home designs.
Located in the south-eastern part of Mississauga, it borders Queensway Road, North Service Road, Dixie and Cawthra Road, which is highly convenient for commuters. It is very close to Mississauga Downtown and Toronto. Together with Sherway West, Applewood Acres makes up the North Residential Neighborhood Precinct.
